Karen Finnigan isn’t just any ordinary Idaho Falls-based author. She’s also the matriarch of a creative family. Her daughter is a professional artist, and her son and daughter-in-law have followed her into the literary arts.
Karen was born in Canada, but moved to the U.S. at age eight. Her father was a Norwegian immigrant and her mother a Canadian of Scottish descent. At age 15, Karen became a naturalized American citizen. That same year she discovered what would become her all-time favorite book–Jane Eyre. Karen has written historical romance (most under the pseudonym Karen Lockwood and many published in Berkley’s former Homespun series). Her first published novel, Fires of Midnight, won an Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Finalist award. She’s also taught school and worked in technical editing.
